Responsibilities

Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated Purchasing Manager to join our team. We focus on driving exceptional customer service by providing the highest quality at the lowest price, with the quickest delivery. The Purchasing Manager will support this mission by demonstrating excellent communication and professionalism at all times.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Plans yearly cost savings goals and drives a team to deliver on the plan.
  • Provides monthly updates on the progress to plan for yearly cost savings goals.
  • Enters and validates all purchase orders.
  • Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies.
  • Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditures.
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Build relationships with vendors
  • Source for better pricing, delivery, and terms
  • Contacts vendors with discrepancies with quantity and quality.
  • Interfaces with all departments and resolves problems and issues as necessary.
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
  • Helps maintain the company’s inventory and its tracking system.

  • Ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively. Must be able to balance team and individual responsibilities, exhibit objectivity and openness to others’ views. Contributes toward building a positive team spirit.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and customers. Must have impeccable attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate confidence, a positive attitude, be a self-starter and possess good organizational skills. Individual should be committed to expanding product knowledge and utilize all available resources, striving for continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are critical. Self-starter. Strong time management skills that require little supervision. Ability to work under deadlines and focus on multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet changing business needs. Individual should have the ability to adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations and personalities. Must be able to maintain integrity, confidentiality, and professional maturity.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum requirement is a BS in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration
  • 2 to 3 years of direct supply chain experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of MS office and MRP systems.
  • Self-starter, ambitious and passionate.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
