We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our largest global facility. This role will rely heavily on world-class analytical capabilities and business acumen coupled with an ability to quickly develop and help implement identified improvement opportunities. We expect this role to have a continuous improvement mindset and to help drive this culture throughout the organization.

The Manufacturing Engineer will:

  • Support operations and product development by focusing on manufacturing methods, processes and controls to improve the effectiveness of manufacturing in the areas of safety, quality, process capability, throughput, productivity, waste and maintainability.
  • Support operations in the areas of root cause analysis and corrective action to process and equipment related problems.
  • Manage multiple projects related to process improvement, equipment acquisition, process improvement, and process validation.

This position is a combination of process and manufacturing engineering with the goal of reducing variation in problematic processes to improve throughput.


Key Deliverables

  • Design, acquire, manage, install and document production equipment and processes to improve manufacturing process control, safety, quality, efficiency and maintainability of existing products. Document manufacturing method definition with settings and adjustment limits with appropriate documentation.
  • Support manufacturing operations in trouble shooting existing products and processes to minimize scrap and waste and assure reliable manufacturing capability.
  • Provide project leadership for projects related to capacity constraints existing or projected to occur to support order fulfillment.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer needs to minimize and optimize inter-relationship of variables such as Human/Ergonomics, Vibration, Mold characteristics, heating, cooling, material and environment for the operation with the goal of reducing variation.
  • Respond to manufacturing problems or customer complaints as assigned by using various quality tools to identify root cause, determine most effective solutions and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist Product Development Engineers in procuring or building new equipment for new product development projects and the validation of the process.
  • Support and or lead material replacement projects as required to maintain continuity of supply for raw materials.
  • Identify and improve manufacturing profitability through productivity improvement, waste reduction and safety improvement.
  • Develop special products that require new process or material capabilities as assigned by Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Integrate new technologies into production.
  • Work with the Tooling Department to develop improved molding techniques.


Core Competencies

  • Hands-on experience and ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing equipment, including MES.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of electrical control systems and equipment design.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in heat transfer systems.
  • Ability to organize and interpret data, including statistical analysis, to isolate manufacturing problems and determine trends.
  • An understanding of material handling systems is beneficial.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Proactive, with a demonstrated ability to lead, and relishes working with limited direction and oversight.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and team problem solving.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills including interacting with hourly manufacturing associates, customers, and suppliers.
  • Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment working across function and business units.
  • Confident and self-aware with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical abilities and critical thinking skills; strengths in problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook


Education and Experience

  • BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical preferred).
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing required.
  • Experience with statistical methods and analysis.
  • Experience managing multiple projects in scope, schedule and status.
  • Understanding of manufacturing P/L relative to cost savings realization.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to analyze problems quickly, development of corrective actions.
