Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Operate one or more pieces of machinery in a given department.  Perform operations efficiently, effectively and safely with minimal supervision.  Able to learn new skills.  Monitor production to assure quality standards are met.  May train new operators.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Be able to shift between departments based on demand fluctuations in critical positions.
  • Assist the Line Lead and Group Lead with ensuring the department follows the production schedule
  • Provide coverage in the absence of Line Leads and Group Leads for supervisory responsibilities when necessary
  • Start and stop machine at specified intervals.  Operate machine(s) per specifications at standard efficiency.
  • Perform set-up duties and make minor equipment adjustments as agreed upon with Maintenance.
  • Immediately stops malfunctioning equipment and notifies supervisor or mechanic that repairs or adjustments are necessary.
  • Report to supervisor any situation where the operation deviates from acceptable quality, production or safety standards.
  • Monitor raw material usage and report excessive loss to the supervisor.
  • Document daily production, as required.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and keep equipment cleaned at all times.
  • Follow all company rules and regulations, per the Employee Handbook or department policy.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate in three or more departments on critical equipment (Nova, FP, JCEM, Heat Seal, Pockets)
  • Knowledge of company products and procedures.
  • Customer focused with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work overtime on short notice.
  • Able to reach, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs.), twist, squat, push and pull.
  • Good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and write in English highly desired.

 

Physical/Mental Demands:

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, lift, move, and handle products, materials, tools, and controls.  The employee frequently is required to stand, periodically may sit, reach with hands and arms, walk or climb with legs and talk or hear.  The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, pull, bend, twist, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or more up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination are required. The physical and mental requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

 

 

 

Working Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, it can be loud for periods of time while working near equipment which is in operation.  Hearing protection and safety glasses may be required.  Employee must be able to hear fork truck horn. The employee must be able to work alone for extended periods of time.  The employee must also be able to work with others as required. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.
