UAF is looking for a Changeout Technician to serve our customers in the central region of the US (Kansas, Missouri, Texas and Illinois etc.)  This is a great entry level role for a new graduate or early career individual with an interest in technical or engineering disciplines. The Changeout Technician is responsible for in-field air filter change outs on telecommunication/telephone equipment for our top customers. The Changeout Technician will report into the Telecom Aftermarket Sales and Services Team and be responsible for delivering a high quality, professional, and reliable service to major telecom service providers throughout the US. The role involves traveling throughout the USA to perform equipment surveys and change out used air filters on Telecom hardware such as routers, switches, and servers. The Changeout Technician will interact directly with customers to understand unmet needs, new equipment, and solicit feedback while on-site performing work.

Responsibilities

  • Primary Job Duties

    • Perform air filter equipment surveys and changeouts on site at our top customer's datacenters and telecommunication equipment facilities
    • Professionally represent the company’s service division
    • Maintain customer relationships with site technicians, purchasers, site managers
    • Communicate feedback from field experience to outside sales team & commercial teams to help continuously improve customer experience and grow revenue.
    • Act as hands-on subject matter expert for air filtration in telecom equipment.
    • Select or assist customers in selecting products based on customer needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations.
    • Advise customers on product usage to improve production.
    • Answer customers' questions about products and provide ongoing technical support.
    • Inform customers of estimated delivery schedules, service contracts, warranties, or other information pertaining to purchased products.
    • Maintain database of equipment and associated part numbers.
    • Verify that delivery schedules meet project deadlines.
    • Study documentation or other information for new scientific or technical products.
    • Attend sales or trade meetings or read related publications to obtain information about market conditions, business trends, environmental regulations, or industry developments.
    • Partner closely with scheduler to plan customer visits
    • When not traveling for projects, expected to book travel, assist with sales, prepare reports, participate in team meetings
    • Able to work with teammates to determine who will be working projects

Qualifications

Education Experience and Skills

  • High School Diploma - or the equivalent (for example, GED)
  • Bachelor's Degree a plus but not required
  • Computer Skills – Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong people skills
  • Must have great communication, be well organized and dependable
  • Enjoys working independently

Desired Skills - the following are nice to have experiences but not required

  • Equipment Maintenance- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Replacing Consumables – Removing used consumables and replacing with new pieces
  • Installation- Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Operation Monitoring- Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Troubleshooting- Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Judgment and Decision Making- Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Travel is planned and self-booked
  • Must live in proximity to major airport
  • Must be comfortable commuting in unfamiliar cities/locations
  • Clean driving record required. Must be a safe driver
  • Must be capable of standing/walking for up to 1 – 6 hours at a time
  • Must be capable of lifting objects 15lbs+ (boxes of filters to move/load them around)
  • Projects include daytime and maintenance window work (12AM – 6AM)
  • Expected to keep up with expense reports
