Work location and position will be located in Greensboro, NC area.




Responsibilities

The Fuel Lab Engineer role, located in Greensboro, NC, is responsible for the operation, maintenance, cleaning, and inspection jet fuel test facility consisting of high and low flow test loops, fuel cleanup system and over 20,000 gallons of jet A test fuel. This position will help grow the business by testing and validating the quality and performance of existing products as well as new product development. This position will begin as someone responsible for testing filters and providing valuable feedback on filter performance and may grow into a manufacturing engineering or product development engineering role based on performance and aptitude. This position will also allow the right candidate to grow their skills in both aviation fuels as well as engineering skills through the continuous improvement and upgrading of the test lab.


 


Responsibilities:


 


Performs daily operation of fuel facility including filter testing, vessel installation, and reporting.
Interpret and report test results including sample collection, recorded data, photos, video, and observations to test requestors.
Inspects and tests fuel and storage facilities.
Maintain lab chemicals and consumables as needed.
Performs all phases of liquid fuel system and component maintenance including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification.
Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
May perform demonstrations of filtration testing for customer or aviation industry partners from time to time.
Create standard work practices and detailed instructions for performing work within the lab.
Other duties as may be required.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Ability:


 


Equipment and facility maintenance.
Ability to read and understand test and product specifications in order to complete test procedures.
Ability to complete required responsibilities of the position without direct supervision.
Desire and ability to collaborate well across departments to achieve company objectives.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment during testing with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
Knowledge or comfort working with electrical wiring, data acquisition systems, PLCs and subsequent code is desired but not required. An open mind and the ability to learn these systems with little guidance is highly preferred.
Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office ie., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Education:


 


Technical background including knowledge of lab/science environment such as high school or college level chemistry and/physics.
A BS in Engineering, Science, or another technical field is desirable.
Preference given to Mechanical, Chemistry, Electrical, Computer specializations in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Engineering Physics.

Experience, preferred:



  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating and maintaining laboratory testing equipment.

  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in a technical role

  • Understanding of test documentation, equipment calibration, fluid systems and fuel handling procedures.

  • Background working with mechanical piping system, electrical wiring, PLC and control systems is preferred, but not required based on the candidate.


 


Education:
