The Sr. Director of Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the business.  

 

This executive must be a “working leader” and will lead the operational management of the business toward the targets for the financial performance and achievement of budgeted business growth, revenue, and EBITDA. The teams reporting to this function will be manufacturing operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, supply chain, warehouse and logistics.

 

The person in this role will be an inspiring and transformative business leader, bringing deep operations leadership experience with a track record of success in a highly engineered manufacturing environment, preferable in a healthcare or food related business.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties  

    • Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the organization’s operations group with a focus on safety, quality, parts, delivery, and cost through daily management and evaluation of business metrics.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems.
    • Develop, mentor, and lead a high-impact team that thrives in a collaborative operating culture, making changes where necessary to ensure strategic alignment and execution performance.
    • Oversee the entire manufacturing process from start to finish, including planning, engineering & design, materials procurement, labor management, production scheduling, quality control, shipping, and warehousing.
    • Lead and refine capacity planning activities to better anticipate customer needs, ensure delivery against operational requirements, and optimize manufacturing efficiency and costs.
    • Identify and drive improvement initiatives that optimize capacity and ensure future growth plans without disruption to current customer schedules.
    • Analyze the SIOP process to implement improvement, develop and communicate SIOP related metrics to the organization, and drive cross functional partnerships for optimum results.
    • Facilitate cultural change initiatives within the site’s operations groups – focused on continuous improvement, operational accountability, and positive employee engagement.
    • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline the organization’s use of resources and materials.
    • Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, material efficiency, equipment acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision.
    • Establish, communicate, and implement operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution.
    • Become actively engaged and connected by forming strong cross functional, and business-unit relationships, in particular with R&D and Sales. Establish a strong partnership with the leadership team.
    • Assure performance objectives and metrics for continuous improvement operations and delivery/service performance, quality, forecasting accuracy, and overall productivity are implemented within the business.
    • Act as Champion for Lean and 80/20 operating systems to enhance efficiency and implement improvements.

Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance/Business or related technical field; MBA preferred.
    • Intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication and negotiation skills.
    • Experience creating and maintaining a culture of safety.
    • Training and expertise in lean tools (or another established corporate operating or business system), with a minimum of seven years’ experience. Demonstrated success implementing successful lean evolutions and driving business impact.  Must be able to demonstrate a history of sustained results in a multi-plant setting. 
    • Energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image.
    • Well-rounded operations and general management business acumen and in possession of an entrepreneurial attitude paired with strong financial and technical aptitude.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents including legal.
    • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints, and the ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on complex topics to top management, customers, and suppliers.
    • Excellent relationship building skills.
    • Agile, can manage through and support change.

Physical Demands

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%. The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the building to access other offices, meeting rooms, and equipment in the facility. The person in this position frequently communicates with vendors, and co-workers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

 

Work Environment

Generally works in an office environment but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting. Normal manufacturing conditions always requiring safety observation.

 

Travel: up to 25%   

 

Pay: $175,000 - $200,000 per year
