The Distribution Manager will oversee all shipments for both truckload and web orders. He/she will be responsible for all compliance criteria set forth by all customers. This will include all electronic communications to customers (ASN’s, ARN’s etc). He/she will be responsible for reporting on key metrics that are identified. In addition, he/she will be responsible for inventory control and cycle counting of Mercy Drive location.

Responsibilities

  • Manage shipping team to ensure a minimum of 98% on time shipments.
  • Daily assignments of staff. This will include stow, pickers and packers.  This will include modifications as needed throughout the day as areas need more or less assistance.
  • Daily reporting of metrics such as OTS (on time shipments, employee pick performance etc.) In addition the manager will need to create some best in class metrics they feel are appropriate.
  • Track and Manage all Amazon Vendor Central and Direct Fulfillment metrics.
  • Warehouse organization. The manager will need to come up with a best-in-class warehouse organization structure that considers optimum pick performance, ease of counting and simplicity of finding products.  The end goal is for anyone to be able to come into the warehouse and pick orders. 
  • Ensure material transfers from Seaboard are seamless and done quickly without barriers. This includes recording location \s where material will be placed and physical moving.
  • Build and mentor a strong team. The manager will need to make sure all personnel are fit for the roles they are assigned and can operate with minimum guidance.  There will also be a need to continuously evaluate shipping hours of operation to best fulfill customer needs.
  • Conduct team meetings regularly to go over performance and safety. Different safety topics should be discussed at each meeting.
  • Coordinate and record material allocations and inventory transactions through QAD
  • Attend GEMBA meetings with the production leaders – each shift, looking at late, current, and future demand and creating a material plan to meet customer demand while reducing cost
  • Manage inventory in the warehouse – monitor parameter settings and reduce/re-size as necessary
  • Continuous improvement - participate in continuous improvement activities that drive the KPI's – this includes reporting of planning KPI’s.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Must be familiar with bar code scanning, physical inventory management, and cycle count programs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with hourly personnel.
  • Well-developed math verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using an ERP system (SAGE, QAD, SAP, Oracle for example)
  • Proficient with MS office applications as a tool for data analysis
  • Ability to problem solve and the ability to multi-task are required.
  • Education - College Degree
