Overview

Porex is on a mission to make the world safer, healthier and more productive.  Porex is looking for a Scientist or Lab Technician based in Beverly, Massachusetts. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in laboratory practices and an interest in membranes and filtration technology. This role involves conducting experiments, testing, and data analysis to support the development and quality assurance of our porous media and filtration products.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

  • Conduct laboratory experiments to characterize porous polymeric media and their performance in liquid filtration.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments and tests on membrane materials and filtration processes to evaluate performance characteristics.
  • Characterize porous materials using various analytical and characterization techniques, including Spectroscopy, Porometry, surface analysis, microscopy, and filtration/retention properties
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as scientific instruments, pH meters, and filtration systems.
  • Manage chemical inventory, supplies, and coordinate chemical waste storage and removal.
  • Setup, maintenance, and operation of Liquid process Normal Flow filtration testing
  • Collect, analyze, and record data accurately in laboratory notebooks and databases.
  • Assist in the development and optimization of new testing methods and protocols.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to data analysis, project reports, and presentations
  • You will be expected to adhere to all safety rules, including the wearing of PPE (personal protective equipment) if you want to be specific here i.e. steel toe shoes or must wear cut resistant gloves, or harness you can put that here. If they must do a full hazmat suit, then you’d put that here too.
  • Responsible for writing validation reports

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering discipline, Polymers, Materials Science, or a related field. 0-3 years of experience in a research or laboratory setting; experience in filtration or related areas is a plus.  

Experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment is a plus
