The Senior Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the standard costing models for over 4500 SKUs, leading to informed decision making and overall financial performance of the business.  Reporting to the Director of Finance & Accounting, the role has responsibility for key inputs to the month-end close along with analyzing results providing management with clear and accurate reporting related to product cost performance, identification of risks, and opportunities.   In addition, the role plays a critical role in S&OP processes ensuring sales forecasts and production schedules align with product costing models and material forecasts.  Currently, the Senior Analyst is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day work of cycle counting to ensure inventory management and controls are being adhered to along with providing support to the annual audit process.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the standard costing process, including maintaining periodic cost rolls/annual updates. Ensure the use of consistent methodology and provide insights and analysis of the key drivers of change
  • Responsible for inputs to the forecasting and close activities, including developing the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and monthly closes tasks related to logistics and product cost.
  • Investigate and understand variances in actual-to-plan performance as it relates to product cost. 
  • Ensure that corporate policies, guidelines and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are adhered to across the inventory and cost accounting process
  • Oversee and monitor cost savings tracking and reporting
  • Actively participate in discussions regarding key commodity planning assumptions
  • Reconcile inventory accounts and provide critical insights into the Product Supply Balance Sheet reporting (Inventory, Reserves, etc.)
  • Partner with cross-functional teams within Operations, Finance, etc., to drive business results and meet business objectives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of total related experience with 2 or more years of cost accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business required or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and finance concepts required
  • Demonstrated analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experienced ERP systems user along with business intelligence platforms and advanced MS Excel skills.   QAD or Sage a big plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to interact, influence effectively, and communicate with multiple levels of the organization
