Overview

The Global Filter Financial Analyst will report to the Director of Finance and will be based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Financial Analyst will support the Global Filter Business Unit by performing a variety of financial analysis and reporting. They play a pivotal role in Global Filter’s success by developing tools for monthly tracking of KPI’s, organizing and reporting annual budgets, quarterly forecasting, as well as ad hoc reporting. The Financial Analyst will have a strong understanding of the Global Filter Business Unit portfolio, compliance and revenue recognition standards, proper internal controls surrounding financial reporting, general accounting best practices, and Filtration Group corporate policies.

 

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated quick learner, highly organized and focused, with sufficient Financial Planning & Analysis expertise and a strong bias for action. The candidate will possess a customer-centric mindset, financial control skills, sound communication skills, analytical skills, & the ability to adapt positively to changing business demands through problem solving. The Financial Analyst must also effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization and be comfortable presenting and utilizing video and/or phone conferencing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementation of automated systems to provide financial models, key performance indicators and monthly management reporting
    • Ensure that information is accurate, complete and timely to assist effectively managing the business
  • Responsible for delivering the business unit’s consolidated monthly financial results
  • Responsible for preparing monthly variance analysis explaining variances between actual and budget, forecast and prior year
  • Assist in preparation of month end business unit reporting package
  • Assist in the development and reporting of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and strategic outlooks
  • Assist in organizing responses to corporate requests for information in a timely manner
  • Assist in reviewing internal controls; ensuring accurate and complete reporting
  • Assist businesses in understanding and compliance with Corporate policy and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Effectively communicate corporate requests to the businesses and consolidate information for corporate
  • Assist businesses with ad hoc reports and analysis
  • Responsible for ensuring all businesses meet corporate deadline submissions
  • Leads and supports training of team, including through our continuous education program, Global University
  • Consistently available to staff; ensures work responsibilities are covered when not available
  • Partners with internal teams to support projects associated with new or existing initiatives
  • Demonstrate trust, bias for action, and entrepreneurship in daily activities and when communicating with other associates and departments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for responding to questions from both internal and external customers
  • Proficient at influencing others while demonstrating a confident and positive attitude
  • Must possess strong problem-solving skills to lead resolution efforts focused on creating an exceptional quality for our customers
  • Knowledge on GAAP is required; knowledge of financial planning and analysis best practices is preferred
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter, take initiative to provide solutions in the absence of perfect data
  • Must be able to adapt and work effectively with a variety of changing situations
  • Possess excellent organizational skills with very effective attention to detail
  • Robust time management skills are essential
  • Skilled at working within deadlines and prioritizing multiple projects with minimal supervision to meet changing business needs
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be committed to utilizing all available resources while striving for continuous improvement, both professionally and for business success
  • Advanced skills and abilities with Microsoft Office; specifically, Outlook, Word, Power BI, and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of teleconference tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required; or in absence of degree, seven (7) years of experience in accounting and/or finance related role is required
  • Three (3) years of accounting and/or finance experience is preferred; Ideally in a high-volume production manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP; International accounting experience is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Power BI, ERP Systems, and various analytical tools is required
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with all levels of the organization is required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy with sound organizational skills
  • Willingness to work side-by-side with all levels of the team
