Columbus Industries is looking for 1st Shift Maintenance Tech

To maintain Plant Production Equipment using Preventative Maintenance Schedules, and performing periodic checks. Provide effective repairs by making adjustments, replacing defective components, and to rebuild unserviceable components when required. Perform building maintenance functions such as repair roof leaks, basic plumbing repair, and basic electrical maintenance up to 230-volt circuits. Provide support to other Maintenance Personnel as directed by the Maintenance Manager and or Supervisor. Set-up and operate all Machine Shop Equipment including Welders, Sheet Metal Shear, and Brake necessary to fabricate and or modify machine parts as needed to a tolerance of + or – 0.005”

Responsibilities

  • Participate in preventive maintenance program for plant equipment, machinery and related facilities; identify equipment maintenance needs; record mechanical equipment readings; ensure accuracy of records kept.
  • Perform routine mechanical, electrical, welding, or machining maintenance activities on equipment including lubrication, inspection, and replacement parts; order and maintain stock levels of lubricants used in plant equipment.
  • Maintain records of plant function readings and equipment history; maintain preventative maintenance records and schedules. Complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner.
  • Conduct performance tests of plant equipment using tachometers, pressure gauges, flowmeter, amp and volt meters.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, update and repair malfunctioning plant equipment; maintain, repair and overhaul treatment plant equipment including aeration blowers, barminutors, pumps and motors, compressors, belt press, valves, drive units, hydraulic control units, chlorinators, chemical feeders, pneumatic equipment and hydraulic pressure systems.
  • Maintain efficient records on operations and activities; maintain plant safety records; maintain and record shipping and receiving of parcels; prepare a variety of reports on data. 9. Ensure and adhere to safe work practices and procedures including, but not limited to lockout/tag out and confined space rules and regulations.
  • Interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and diagrams.
  • Report part usage as required.
  • Assist other Maintenance Personnel with their work as required/needed.
  • Respond to service calls with the appropriate tools. Respond to requests for service at all times.
  • Conduct self in a manner in alignment with company policies.
  • Display a positive disposition, and willingness to get involved. Spend time studying the processes.
  • Provide feedback to other employees in a courteous fashion.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical hardware including bearings, rotating shafts and AC/DC motors.
  • At least 3 years in the maintenance field
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Possess a general understanding of production processes.
  • Be capable of performing set-ups on all production machinery.
  • Be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Additional Technical training is helpful but not required.
  • Must be able to read a Tape Measure, Micrometer, and Vernier Caliper.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to read Blueprints.
  • Other requirements, Mechanical Ability.
