Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for assisting in financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, providing financial analysis to support decision-making, and standard cost process. This role will work closely with other departments to ensure the accuracy of financial records and contribute to the overall financial health of the company.

Responsibilities

General Ledger & Accounting:

  • Prepare journal entries and ensure proper documentation and approval.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in managing the month-end and year-end closing process.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform detailed financial analysis and provide insights on financial performance and variances.
  • Responsible for daily reporting of sales and orders

Cost accounting and Cost Variance Improvement

  • Contribute to standard cost development and analysis.
  • Review and maintain BOM’s to ensure accurate inventory valuation.
  • Monitor inventory variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits and follow up on audit requests.
  • Assist with inventory cycle counting
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding financial practices.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and work with business partners  to implement any new identified procedures
  • Assist in automating repetitive tasks to streamline accounting operations.

Budgeting/Forecasting

  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Cost accounting experience preferred
  • Prior experience with financial software (e.g. QAD, Planful)

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Preferred experience in an operations manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other formulas)
