Overview

The Materials and Inventory Specialist performs day-to-day functions which include, but are not limited to, receiving of incoming material for the stockroom, returning parts to stock, purchasing stock/non-stock material, cycle counting reconciliation, assisting "customers" as needed, etc.  Additionally, responsibilities include monthly reporting, reviewing outstanding orders of stock/non-stockroom items, overseeing ongoing projects, inventory control, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming spares.
  • Generate purchase orders for spares needed, based on min/max levels.
  • Return change parts to stock.
  • Review and renew blanket orders for spares.
  • Minimize stock by lowering the maximum held on inventory items.
  • Remove obsolete inventory by analyzing usage reports.
  • Reduce on-hand inventory of stock that is readily available from local suppliers.
  • Reduce inventory of garniture tapes through a mutual agreement with suppliers to carry a min/max inventory of specified garniture tapes for production.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Improve business relationships with vendors and co-workers.
  • Achieve/maintain cycle count accuracy goals through counts by floor personnel and reconciliation.
  • Assist where needed in ISO certification maintenance.
  • Complete monthly reporting for management.
  • Return excess or defective parts or supplies to vendors as required to ensure the timely receipt of credit.
  • Maintain files containing company copies of purchase orders that are readily available for reference.
  • Maintain and assist in the design and stocking of forms used throughout the company.
  • Maintain and manage daily issues related to service contracts for the facility.
  • Maintain and order office supplies as needed for the facility.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of consumables in the supply cage to meet company needs.
  • Provide assistance to Shipping when required.
  • Assist Production with locating non-stock parts from outside sources.
  • Point of contact for the employee Market Place.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain daily management and communication boards as required (simple tasks consisting of but not limited to laminating materials, etc.).
  • Coordinate kitting of common usage parts for off shifts.
  • Inventory control, including cycle counting of warehouse and stockroom items.
  • Purchase spare parts and items outside of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI).
  • Perform Amazon purchasing as needed.
  • Other duties, as required.

ISO 9001 and Environmental, Health and Safety

  • Maintain awareness of company policies.
  • Maintain awareness of company objectives for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Support the Company’s continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be organized and efficient.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate (writing, email, telephone, face-to-face).
  • Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Must be able to manipulate data for effective tracking and reporting.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience showing an increase in responsibilities, preferably in a stockroom or manufacturing environment.
