Overview

The PDE Lab Technician will provide support to new product development projects.  Perform experimental design, execution and result analysis.  Conduct data collection, organization and summary.  Effectively communicate the results to engineers in R&D and Operations. Supports the continuous improvement, product quality, and the reduction of scrap. Ensures compliance to customer standards and documented procedures relating to the manufacturing of prototype samples and trial production orders.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Participate in new product development projects.
  2. Perform analytical testing to include test procedure development.
  3. Chemical batch mixing/preparation.
  4. Clear, accurate documentation of trials and testing.
  5. Pilot line operation
  6. Operates, interprets, and reports results from lab equipment and hand tools.
  7. Identifies equipment, supplies, instrumentation and measurement standard needs
  8. Generates shipment paperwork per customer requirements (CoA's, CoC’s), based on test results and customer requirements as assigned
  9. Interprets results from data, reports, and testing, and compares test results with process capability and specifications as per Management.
  10. Professionally interacts/communicates (face to face, voice, and electronic) with appropriate internal and external parties concerning aspects of the position
  11. Performs inspection/testing on raw, work in progress, and finished goods per work instructions, test methods, lot acceptances, or other guidance as directed to ensure internal and customer requirements are met
  12. Working with Product Development Engineers, develops and performs test inspections based on attributes using consistent standards and a degree of judgment developed with familiarity with the products, interaction with marketing/sales/customer care, consideration of final use of product, and past customer complaints and internal rejections.
  13. Completes all necessary paperwork, labels, and tags to indicate status of product.
  14. Maintains paperwork and product retains in an organized manner.
  15. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area
  16. Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:       High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent training and/or experience, with focus on production/manufacturing/quality.

 

Experience:      Greater than 6 months experience related to quality inspector or equivalent.

 

Other skills and abilities required include:

  1. Leadership skill-set
  2. Innovative/creative with testing techniques and equipment design or processes
  3. Good math
  4. Detail oriented, but
  5. Ability to interpret specification, read blue prints and
  6. Good understanding of data collection hardware and software
  7. Effective written and verbal communication skills and good professional
  8. Effective problem-solving skills such as 5 why's, cause and effect analysis, and
  9. Intermediate computer skills (Statistical software, Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), instrumentation software, MES)
  10. Ability to assist in trouble
  11. Exhibit required quality skills and superior attendance record
  12. Ability to identify and report safety concerns and unsafe conditions
  13. Ability to interpret standards/policies/practices and report regulatory and system violations.

Physical Demands:  Medium Work - Lifting of 50 pounds maximum.
