Responsibilities

Project Engineer

Position Overview: The Project Engineer will play a critical role in the end-to-end execution of engineered filtration systems for bulk diesel and lube oil applications. Operating primarily in the power generation and bulk fuel handling market segments, this position supports customer-facing engagements during quoting and proposal stages and continues through design, manufacturing support, and post-delivery documentation. This role bridges technical design with application-specific engineering support and requires cross-functional coordination across sales, drafting, subfabrication, and final assembly teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong project engineering fundamentals and a deep understanding of fluid system applications in industrial and power environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Lifecycle Ownership: Own project execution from pre-sale technical development through shipment and post-delivery documentation. Collaborate with Sales and Business Development teams to understand customer requirements and generate engineering input for proposals and cost estimates. Translate customer specifications and internal standards into detailed project scopes, bills of materials, and technical deliverables.
  • Technical and Application Engineering: Develop and review P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, component selections, and functional system descriptions for bulk diesel filtration and lube oil conditioning systems. Apply knowledge of flow dynamics, contamination control, and equipment performance to optimize system designs for customer-specific applications. Guide component selection, including pumps, motors, instrumentation, and filtration elements, with a focus on performance, durability, and maintainability.
  • Design and Documentation Oversight: Work closely with the Drafting and Design team to ensure engineering intent is accurately captured in CAD models and drawing packages. Provide technical oversight and review of customer-facing documentation, including design packages, test procedures, and O&M manuals. Ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry standards (e.g., ASME), and internal quality requirements throughout the design and build process.
  • Manufacturing and Supplier Support: Support Final Assembly teams with technical guidance during build and inspection/testing activities. Interface with subfabricators (domestic and international) to clarify technical requirements, resolve issues, and ensure deliverables align with project specifications and timelines.
  • Project Management & Communication: Track project milestones, lead time estimates, and technical risks, providing proactive updates to stakeholders across engineering, production, and sales. Participate in internal and external project reviews, ensuring alignment of schedule, cost, and quality expectations. Support coordination of customer design reviews, change requests, and approval documentation.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in a project engineering or system design role within industrial equipment, filtration, fluid handling, or related sectors. Experience in diesel fuel systems, lube oil reconditioning, or other mechanical equipment systems is highly preferred.
  • Skills: Proficient in interpreting P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and system schematics. Knowledge of ASME pressure vessel design considerations, and familiarity with relevant codes and standards. Strong organizational and communication skills for managing concurrent projects and interfacing with cross-functional teams. Preference for experience with SolidWorks and Allen Bradley PLC platforms (e.g., RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View), particularly in support of integrated control systems.

The ideal candidate is a technically strong and detail-oriented engineer who thrives on translating customer needs into engineered solutions. They bring a solid foundation in mechanical system design, coupled with strong communication and organizational skills that allow them to lead projects across quoting, design, and execution stages. Experience working with fluid processing systems, especially in power generation or fuel handling applications, is a plus, as is the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external suppliers.
